Despite a measly 720p resolution, the IPS panel displays content fairly sharply. Even smaller fonts can be read well, as Nokia does not use a PenTile raster, but a classic RGB matrix that does not cause frayed colored borders on letters and object edges. The cool color-coordinated display is viewing angle stable and with a maximum brightness of 500 cd / m² Sufficiently bright even in the sun. It does not match the deep black and high contrast values ​​of OLEDs.

Processor and camera

Like many of its – sometimes significantly more expensive – Nokia siblings, the G50 is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 480 entry-level SoC. But if you keep several resource-hungry applications open in the background, the G50 acknowledges this with one or two seconds of thought. All in all, the performance corresponds to what one can expect in the price range. Benchmarks attest a little more computing power to the cheaper Redmi Note 10 5G and Realme 8 5G with MediaTek Dimensity 700 (test). With the integrated 5G chip, the G50 transmits in the bands relevant in this country. It cannot use the ultra-short-wave mmWave bands.
